typhoon track map上的圆点The Color代表Intensity, The Real Line是已走路径, The false line是Forecast路径, 同心圆是风圈. 学会这几点就能自己研判Typhoon .

Basic elements of the road map

Opening TypoonSays’ live track map, you’ll see these elements:

1. track points (彩色圆点)

Each point represents Typhoon's Center at a given time. The Color代表当时的IntensityThe class:

Click on any track points to see detailed data for the moment: latitude, Pressure, Max Wind, Moving direction and speed.

Real and false lines

• The Real LineThe path that Typhoon has walked.
• The false line: Forecast's future path, each forecast point marking is expected to arrive at Time

Circle of the Wind (circle of the Heart)

An irregular circle with the typhoon center as the circle represents the range of influence of different wind forces:

• Seven levels of wind.: wind force ≥ 7 level range, Go to that is to say there is clearly strong wind
• 10 levels of wind.Wind Force ≥10 Degree, Destructive Wind
• 12 levels of wind.Wind Force ≥12 Degree, Destroying strong wind

Note that the four symbolic radius of the wind circle are often not equal (NE, SE, SW, NW each have numerical values), and Typhoon structure is asymmetric as normal.

Practical Three Steps.

• See the distance.: Use MeasureFeatures to measure the nearest distance between your city and the center of Typhoon and the Forecast path, combining the wind circle radius to determine whether it will go to the wind zone.
• See the trend.: How many times has Forecast been updated, is the path stable?
• Change of intensity.: track pointsThe Color是在加深 (加强) 还是变浅 (减弱) ? 临近Landfall时的Intensity才是关键.

A common misconception.

Typhoon is a system of hundreds of kilometers in diameter, with a spiral rain belt, outer winds, thunderstorms impact range far beyond the center path.
