Typhoon Krosa, international code 200716, international name KROSA, 2007 Northwest Pacific typhoon. Formed: 2007-10-02 08:00:00, ended: 2007-10-08 22:00:00. Peak intensity: Super Typhoon, minimum central pressure: 925 hPa, max wind: 55m/s.
Typhoon Krosa at 2007-10-02 08:00:00 at 17.1°N, 130.9°E over the Northwest Pacific; initial intensity: Tropical Storm.
It peaked at Super Typhoon intensity with max winds of 55 m/s (~198 km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 925hPa, recorded at 2007-10-05 02:00:00.
2007-10-08 22:00:00 After, Typhoon Krosa gradually weakened and was numbered off on 2007-10-08 22:00:00 was numbered off; its lifecycle recorded 103 track points.
Typhoon Krosa (200716)'s life history at the Northwest Pacific ocean surface, overall presenting the typical NW toward Moving after turning toward NE. From the initial formed point (17.1°N, 130.9°E) to its peak, the system is stable toward NW direction advancing, latitude from 17.1°N rapidly N to 24.9°N, length from 130.9°EW to 121.8°E, showing a strong W line percentage.
The key shift toward feature appeared before October 7th. Observation data showed that on October 7th, 07:00 to 15:00, the Typhoon center latitude shifted from 25.7°N rapidly to 27.1°N, while the length variation was very small (120.6°E to 120.5°E), indicating that at this time the system was at near stagnant or vertical N upper stage. Then, from October 8th, the path marked toward E twist, the length rebounded from 120.5°E to 122.9°E, marked by the influence of the wind belt guided airflow, Typhoon completed the turn toward and accelerated toward NE direction exit.
Krosa's intensity evolution experienced rapid enhancement, peak maintenance and rapid weakening in three stages. Initially called Tropical Storm (18m/s), rapidly increased in about 48h, and by October 5 at 05:00 has reached the Super Typhoon level (55m/s, 930hPa) . Its peak conditionined a longer time, from October 5th at 05:00 to October 6th at 15:00, max wind continued at 55m/s, minimum pressure reached 925hPa, showing extremely strong core structural stability.
Its minimum air pressure was 925hPa low at 2001 at Krosa (938hPa), 2013 at Krosa (945hPa), 2019 at Krosa (950hPa) and 2025 at Krosa (970hPa) .In Max Wind, the peak of 55m/s also far surpassed the other year's record of the level of 'Severe Typhoon' or 'Typhoon'.
