Characteristics of Typhoon Francisco

Path and Moving Characteristics

The life history of the 14th Typhoon “Francisco” in 2007 was short, from formed to dispersed only about 51h. Observation data showed that the Typhoon as a whole showed a stable W line path, with no noticeable turn toward or N fold phenomenon. the initial phase (September 23, 11 am) , system position at late 20°N, 115.7° near, followed by toward WSW. During the September 23, 14th to 24th, 11h, the Typhoon center latitude was essentiallyined at about 19.7°N, the length rapidly moved from 115°EW to 111.3°E, showing an extremely strong latitude toward Moving score, almost parallel along the latitude Moving.

Go to the afternoon of September 24, the path appeared subtly tuned, the center of N slightly raised to 19.8°N, then again S dropped. by September 24, 23 o'clock, the latitude dropped to 19.1°N, indicating that the system was influenced by the later guided airflow changes, the path slightly toward S pressure. Thro the course, the Typhoon was always active at sea, no Landfall records, and finally at September 25, 14 o'clock in the N Bay waters weakened dispersion.

Intensity Evolution and Historical Comparison

In the course of toward WMoving, the system underwent a brief reinforcement process: on September 24, 02 wind speed increased to 20m/s, air pressure dropped to 992hPa; and at September 24, 14 reached peak intensity, at which time the minimum air pressure was 987hPa, max windined 20m/s, level remains Tropical Storm. After the peak stateined about 6h, the system began to rapidly weaken. on September 24, 23 wind speed dropped to 18m/s, air pressure rose back to 992hPa; by September 25, 02th, further reduced to Nameless (16m/s, 995hPa), until finally dispersed.

The data show that the same name Typhoon in 2013 and 2001 reached the Super Typhoon level, minimum pressure lowered to 915hPa and 944hPa respectively; in 2019 'Francisco' also reached the Severe Typhoon level (955hPa) . Even the future 2025 is the same name Typhoon, its peak air pressure (995hPa) is also equivalent to the initial Intensity of the 2007 system, but in 2007 the system has briefly deepened to 987hPa.
