Intensity evolution and historical comparison
From December 9 to 12, the system from Tropical Depression rapidly intensified into Tropical Storm; from December 14 upgraded to Typhoon, wind speed to 33m/s. In the following three days, Typhoon Go to Rapid Enhancement, from December 16 to Super Typhoon, max wind rising to 51m/s, and at December 17 to life history peak of 53m/s. Peak stateined until December 18, then began to weaken significantly, from December 19 to Typhoon, and further weakened into Severe Tropical Storm and Tropical Depression on December 20.
It peaked at Super Typhoon level (53m/s), far over 1988 Kit (Severe Tropical Storm), 1978 Kit (Severe Tropical Storm) and 1974 Kit (Tropical Storm).
