Overview of Today's Typhoon Situation

On the evening of October 10, the Northwest Pacific remained highly active, featuring a dual-typhoon pattern. Although both typhoons are currently located in the open ocean and pose no direct wind or rain threat to mainland China, the interaction between autumn typhoons and cold air masses remains the main focus of recent weather developments. Additionally, monsoon troughs and tropical disturbances are still nurturing new typhoon embryos, meaning typhoon activity in October should not be underestimated.

Analysis of Active Typhoon Dynamics

Typhoon No. 29 "Koguma" (Severe Typhoon)

Currently, the center of "Koguma" is located at 22.2°N, 150.5°E, with a central minimum pressure of 940 hPa and maximum sustained winds of 50 m/s. It is moving northwest at 24 km/h. Its intensity is expected to fluctuate; by the afternoon of the 14th, it will move to near 40.0°N, 159.1°E and weaken to a severe tropical storm. This typhoon is primarily active over the open ocean and will have no direct impact on China in the future.

Typhoon No. 28 "Nolo" (Tropical Storm)

The center of "Nolo" is currently located at 31.5°N, 146.8°E, with a central minimum pressure of 995 hPa and maximum sustained winds of 20 m/s. It is moving north at 11 km/h, with its intensity continuing to decay. Official forecasts indicate that by the afternoon of the 11th, its center will reach near 33.9°N, 147.9°E and further weaken into a tropical depression. This system is gradually dissipating and will likewise not bring significant impacts to China.

Public Sentiment and Focus Points

In recent meteorological discussions, the public is most concerned about the overall activity level of typhoons in October. According to meteorological departments, 3 to 4 more typhoons are expected to form this month, with 1 to 2 potentially making landfall or significantly affecting China. Furthermore, as cold air from the north advances, there is high public concern regarding sharp temperature drops and rain or snow events triggered by the superposition of typhoons and cold air. Meanwhile, the development trends of tropical disturbances and new typhoon embryos near Guam are also hot topics among weather enthusiasts.

Meteorological Defense Tips

Although "Koguma" and "Nolo" are far from China, October marks the transition from autumn to winter, with frequent cold air activities. Northern regions need to focus on preventing adverse impacts on traffic and agriculture caused by sudden temperature drops and rain/snow, and should add clothing in time. Coastal and southern regions should continue to monitor the generation and development of subsequent new typhoons and make preventive preparations in advance.
