How did Typhoon form?
Definition of Typhoon, Forming Conditions and Structure Analysis.
What is typhoon?
Typhoon (Typhoon) 是发生在Northwest Pacific和S海海域的强热带气旋. 当热带气旋中心附近最大持续wind speed达到 32.7 m/s (12)及以上时, 称为Typhoon .
The Four Conditions of Typhoon
- Extensive high temperatures. The temperature of the sea water requires more than 26.5°C and the depth of the warm water layer is more than 60 meters, providing sufficient water vapor and energy for the Typhoon.
- Strong enough toward.: 一般发生在Slat 5° 以上的海域, 赤道附近因地转偏 toward 力太小难以形成气旋性旋转.
- Initial disturbance: 如热带辐合带中的扰动云团, provides typhoon 胚胎.
- A weak vertical wind.High and low wind directionwind speed differences are small, so that heat is concentrated within a limited area.
Structure of Typhoon
- The Typhoon EyeCentral area, approximately 10 ~ 60 km in diameter, clear weather, weak wind force.
- The walls of the eyes. : The strong pair of streams around the Typhoon Eye, the storms are the strongest.
- The spiral rain.: Rain cloud bands with a spiral distribution outside.
Typhoon classification (China standard)
| The class | Highest average wind speed near the bottom center | Wind Scale |
|---|---|---|
| Nameless | 10.8~17.1 m/s | 6 to 7 levels. |
| Tropical Storm | 17.2~24.4 m/s | 8 to 9 levels |
| Severe Tropical Storm | 24.5~32.6 m/s | Grade 10 to 11 |
| Typhoon | 32.7~41.4 m/s | Level 12 to 13 |
| Severe Typhoon | 41.5~50.9 m/s | Grade 14 to 15 |
| Super Typhoon | ≥51.0 m/s | 16 and above. |
