The Typhoon Eye: An Eerie Calm at the Storm's Center

- Large Eye (>60 km): A signal that the typhoon is mature or beginning to weaken.

The Most Dangerous Deception: The False Calm of the Passing Eye
When the typhoon eye passes over, wind and rain suddenly stop. Historically, countless casualties have resulted from people going outside to check conditions or make repairs at this moment. 30 minutes to an hour later, the rear eyewall returns with gale-force winds from the opposite direction. This sudden shift in wind direction instantly turns buildings that were previously sheltered into wind-facing structures, leaving unprepared people no time to take cover.
