Intensity evolution and historical comparison
Roke’s intensity evolution was typical of a slow-starting storm followed by explosive intensification. For the first nine days, it remained at tropical depression to severe tropical storm intensity, with maximum winds of 23 m/s and a minimum pressure of 982 hPa. However, in just one and a half days from September 19 to 20, it intensified rapidly, with pressure dropping from 980 hPa to 945 hPa and maximum winds rising from 30 m/s to 48 m/s.
