Intensity evolution and historical comparison

Compared with previous storms of the same name, Ken in 1982 was significantly more intense than those in other years. The peak intensities of Ken (197911) in 1979 and Ken (198602) in 1986 were only severe tropical storms, with minimum pressures of 984 hPa and 980 hPa, respectively, far higher than the 936 hPa recorded by Ken in 1982. This indicates that Ken in 1982 was the most energetic and potentially destructive of the three typhoons sharing the same name.
