Today's Typhoon Situation Overview
On October 6, the Northwest Pacific was experiencing the rare phenomenon of three typhoons active simultaneously. Typhoon CHOI-WAN (No. 27), Typhoon NOLO (No. 28), and the newly formed Typhoon KOGUMA (No. 29) were all active over the sea. However, all three systems were positioned relatively far to the east and currently have no direct impact on China's land areas or offshore waters, so the public can safely arrange their travel plans for the end of the holiday.
Analysis of Active Typhoons
Typhoon CHOI-WAN (No. 27): Currently a strong typhoon, it is located far out at sea southeast of Tokyo, Japan. It is moving quickly toward the north-northeast. As it moves to higher latitudes, it is expected to gradually transition into a mid- to high-latitude system, weakening and taking on more extratropical characteristics.
Typhoon NOLO (No. 28): Also a strong typhoon, it is located south and east of CHOI-WAN. It is currently moving steadily westward, with little change in intensity. According to official forecasts, it will turn and weaken into a severe tropical storm in several days, with its track gradually shifting toward waters east of Japan.
Typhoon KOGUMA (No. 29): As a newly formed tropical storm, it is the southernmost of the three systems. It is currently moving slowly toward the west-northwest. Notably, it is expected to benefit from favorable developing conditions in the future. Forecasts indicate that it will significantly intensify into a super typhoon in several days and gradually move northwest toward waters south of Japan.
Public Focus of Attention
The public has recently been paying close attention to the rare phenomenon of three typhoons active simultaneously and its potential impact on National Day holiday travel returns. Since all three typhoons are located over the open ocean, meteorological authorities have explicitly stated that they will not affect China's maritime areas, and travelers in coastal and inland areas do not need to adjust their return plans because of the typhoons. In addition, cold air has brought noticeably cooler conditions to many areas, and while enjoying the autumn weather, people are also closely monitoring the continued development of autumn typhoons.
Weather Defense and Safety Reminders
Although the typhoons currently have no direct impact, strong typhoons over the open ocean may generate significant outer swells. People in coastal areas are advised to pay attention to safety during offshore operations, and vessels heading to the relevant maritime areas should avoid areas affected by strong winds and waves in advance. Autumn weather systems are complex and change rapidly, so the public should bring warm clothing when traveling and adjust their clothing as conditions change.
Finally, weather systems can change at any moment. Please refer to warnings issued by the CMA (China Meteorological Administration) and local government authorities.
