Overview of Today's Typhoon Situation

On July 14, typhoon activity in China's coastal waters and the Northwest Pacific remained active. The 9th typhoon, "Bavi," is moving deep into the northeast, bringing fierce wind and rain to many areas in northern and eastern China. Meanwhile, the 11th typhoon, "Haishen," has formed in the open ocean, continuing the pattern of dual typhoons.

Analysis of Active Typhoon Dynamics

Typhoon "Bavi" (202609)

Currently, the center of "Bavi" is located at 36.7°N, 120.5°E, with a central pressure of 992 hPa and maximum sustained winds of 18 m/s. It is moving northeast at a speed of 29 km/h. Official forecasts predict that by the morning of the 15th, its center will reach the vicinity of 40.57°N, 130.63°E, maintaining tropical storm intensity. Although its center has moved away from East China, its vast outer circulation combined with northward-moving moisture is subjecting northern regions to severe wind and rain challenges.

Typhoon "Haishen" (202611)

The new typhoon "Haishen" is centered in the open ocean at 13.2°N, 135°E, with a central pressure of 998 hPa and maximum sustained winds of 18 m/s. It is moving northeast at 16 km/h. It is expected to reach the vicinity of 17°N, 138.5°E by early morning on the 15th and weaken into a tropical depression. Currently, it has no direct impact on China's coastal waters.

Public Concerns and Sentiment

Recent meteorological public sentiment has focused mainly on "Bavi"'s ability to transport moisture over long distances. Although its center is positioned relatively south, widespread heavy rainfall has already hit Northeast China, North China, and Shandong Province. Some coastal roads have even experienced seawater backflow, leading to high public alertness regarding urban waterlogging and geological disasters in mountainous areas. Additionally, as "Bavi" moves north, heat and humidity in some southern parts have eased, with Guangdong and other places receiving cooling rains. The formation of the new typhoon "Haishen" has also sparked public discussion about the level of typhoon activity for the remainder of the year.

Meteorological Defense Tips

Areas affected in northern and eastern China need to remain vigilant against urban and rural waterlogging, flash floods, and geological disasters caused by heavy rainfall; relevant departments should strengthen patrols. Coastal areas and offshore operation platforms need to closely monitor changes in wind and waves and take timely shelter measures. The public should avoid waterlogged sections when traveling and pay attention to traffic safety.
