Overview of Today's Typhoon Situation

By this evening, Typhoon No. 9 of the year, "Bavi," has moved deep into Anhui Province after making landfall twice in Zhejiang, continuing its northward trajectory. Although its intensity has weakened, its vast circulation system continues to bring significant wind and rain impacts to regions including Jiangnan, the Jianghuai area, and the Huanghuai area. Flood control and typhoon emergency responses have been comprehensively upgraded in many locations.

Updates on Active Typhoon "Bavi"

As of the evening of the 12th, the center of Typhoon "Bavi" was located within Anhui Province at 31.4°N, 118.4°E, with a central pressure of 988 hPa and maximum sustained winds of 23 m/s. It is moving toward the north-northwest at 12 km/h. Reviewing its path, "Bavi" made landfall in Yuhuan, Taizhou, Zhejiang, late on the 11th, and quickly made a second landfall along the coast of Yueqing, Wenzhou. At the time of landfall, the maximum wind force near the center reached Level 13.

According to official forecasts, "Bavi" will continue moving north. It is expected to turn eastward in eastern Anhui on the 13th, pass through the areas along and north of the Huai River in Jiangsu, and move from the Shandong Peninsula into the northern Yellow Sea on the 14th. By 16:00 on the 15th, its center will reach the vicinity of 42.5°N, 132.42°E, maintaining tropical storm intensity. Over the next three days, heavy rainfall associated with the typhoon will affect Anhui, Jiangsu, Shandong, as well as parts of North China and Northeast China.

Today, public discussion regarding the typhoon focused on three main aspects: First, as the strongest typhoon to make landfall in Zhejiang in July since 1949, "Bavi" left a deep impression with its rare double-landfall track and the massive waves, several stories high, that it generated. Although "Bavi" has weakened to a tropical storm, its extensive cloud system will still bring widespread heavy rain. Residents in the Jianghuai and Huanghuai regions are urged to remain highly vigilant against urban and rural waterlogging and geological disasters in mountainous areas caused by persistent rainfall. In areas with strong winds, outdoor structures susceptible to being blown away should be reinforced. Before traveling, be sure to check the status of trains and flights, and avoid dangerous areas such as mountains and river channels.
